Cassie's Personal Public Service Announcement:

After the loss of her mom to Pancreatic Cancer in 2014, Cassie also became very passionate about raising awareness of the disease and the research to fight it. While research and testing continue, the statistics are alarming. Pancreatic cancer takes 91% of its victims within five years and kills more people than breast cancer in the United States.1 That means there is only a 9% survival rate, with 71% of patients diagnosed dying within the first year! The disease is also the third leading cause of cancer-related death, and it is projected to become the second around 2020.

The Heart Behind the Name

When thinking of what to name the business she pours her heart and soul into, Cassie knew she wanted something meaningful. It didn't take long to decide. The heart of this salon instantly became dedicated to the beautiful memory of her best friend --her mom, Karen Talamantez, who gave her the unconditional love and support that only a mother can truly give. If it wasn't for Karen's suggestion to enter in to cosmetology, Cassie never would have found the true passion and satisfaction that comes from having a career you love. It seemed only fitting to honer her mother in this way, and so K Tal Salon was born.
